Periodic Maintenance Training on Hand Tractors for Farmer Groups in Kenagarian Koto Malintang, Kec. Akabiluru Kab. 50 Cities in the Context of Creating Advanced and Self-Sufficient Farmers

Kenagarian Koto Malintang Kec. Akabiluru, the majority of the population are farmers of secondary crops and rice fields, the current condition is Kenagarian Koto Malintang, Kec. Akabiluru does not yet have many farmer groups, therefore the target of this Community Partnership Program is not only for farmer groups but also for people who have hand plow machines. For this reason, the PKM team only entered into a partnership agreement with the Wali Nagari Kenagarian Koto Malintang Kec. Akabiluru due to the partnership agreement with Wali Nagari Kenagarian Koto Malintang Kec. Akabiluru all farmers will be well accommodated, both farmer groups and the general public.

This activity took place from 15-23 September 2018 and was opened directly by Wali Nagari Koto Malintang. This PKM activity was attended by 15 participants from various farmer groups and the general public. This activity was greeted enthusiastically by the community. This condition can be seen from the active activity of the activity participants who remained enthusiastic until the last day. Participants also received positive responses several times because they had never previously received training on maintenance of hand plow machines. After implementing this series of PKM activities, farmer groups in this area are expected to have the skills and abilities to carry out periodic maintenance on hand plow machines so that they can avoid damage to plow machines and also reduce dependence on plow machine service services.

Theory Activities at the Wali Nagari Hall

This activity was divided into 2 theoretical and practical sessions. Theory about the theoretical study concerning the periodic maintenance of plow machines, then proceed with practical activities on each plow machine. By carrying out the concept of learning by doing, farmers are guided or assisted in finding the problems experienced by their plow machines, either in groups or individually. If it has been found, it will be assisted to carry out a diagnostic action against the damage, after concluding the problem, then corrective action will be taken according to the respective damage.

In carrying out repairs, the participants were also assisted in installing and replacing new components, not just minor maintenance, in fact the participants’ plow machines were in a completely dead condition. This condition gave participants a lot of knowledge about machining.

During the activity, many things were unexpected, it turned out that the condition of the machines carried by the participants was worse than imagined, but all problems were resolved properly thanks to the cooperation and enthusiasm of the committee and participants. And hope that after this activity the realization of modern, advanced and independent farmers
